Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1951, Greig Cranna lived in Montreal, New England and Alaska before eventually settling in New York City, where he began his photography career in 1976. In NYC his diverse clientele included The Council on Foreign Relations, The Japan Society, ABC Television, The New York Times and The U.S. Dept. of Energy. In 1978, an assignment for The Quebec-Labrador Foundation sent him to the Quebec North Shore and began a 30 year love affair with the North. In those years he has traveled extensively in Alaska and Canada, photographing people, seabird research, Atlantic Salmon research, aquaculture, environmental issues and ecotourism. Since moving to Boston in 1982, he has expanded into education, agriculture, housing, construction, architecture and travel. Birds have been a life-long passion, and their worldwide pursuit continues to expand his photographic horizons. |
